We flew out of Manchester in October 2008 on a BMI conecting flight to London Heathrow where we board SriLankan Airlines Flight UL502. Travelling in economy class on an Airbus A340-300.
The flight, albeit long, was comfortable and the cabin staff were excellent.
There are other SriLankan Airlines partner flights with BMI from Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Teesside to LHR.
Flight time from London to Bandaranayike International Airport, Colombo is 12:45, with one 'technical' stop in Male, Sechelles.
Meals: Dinner and Breakfast fare included with a running soft drinks and bar service with free sandwiches available. The menu was well prepared and as tasty as airline food gets.
Our e-ticket showed a baggage allowance of 30kg per traveller. According to the AirLanka website the free baggage allowance allocated for tickets purchased online is as follows: Checked Baggage: Economy Class - 20 Kgs / Business Class - 30 Kgs ~ Hand Luggage: Economy Class - 7 Kgs / Business Class - 7 Kgs
