Fairs And Festivals

Fairs And Festivals

Dalada Maligawa Perahera Sinhala Tamil Avurudu Tamil Festival BMICH

Due to Sri Lanka’s wide spectrum of ethnic groups and religions, festivals are held regularly.

Each April, the Sinhala and Tamil people celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival. The Muslim community celebrates Ramadan annually.

The Esala Perahera is a grand Buddhist festival. The Perahera or procession features grand and elegant dances and richly-decorated elephants. There are fire-dances, whip-dances, Kandyan dances and various other cultural dances. The elephants are usually adorned with lavish garments.

Fairs are held periodically in Colombo. The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall is the popular host. The varied trade fairs attract many existing and potential investors.
