Sri Lanka Tourism expects 30 per cent growth in visitor arrivals from India


With the civil war coming to an end, Sri Lanka Tourism is looking to hard sell their destinations to the world like never before. Sri Lanka government has set a target of 2.5 million tourist arrivals by 2016 with Indian arrivals singularly contributing half million by the target year.

Speaking to the media at the end of the three─city road show by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau in Delhi recently, Dileep Mudadeniya, Managing Director, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau said that India has been identified as one of the potential markets for Sri Lankan Tourism. He informed that there has been an enormous surge in inbound traffic from India after the civil war has ended. According to officials of Sri Lanka Tourism, 14 sellers participated in the road shows organised in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Delhi. They had the opportunity to meet around 575 buyers from India. The road show at Mumbai which was called off will now be held in the month of December.
