Sri Lanka Tourism to boost image through international public relations
(Colombo, Lankapuvath) – Sri Lanka Tourism has appointed the destination representation/public relations companies in key markets including UK, Middle East, Germany, France and India as part of its efforts to boost the image of Sri Lanka and generate more tourists to the country.
In the backdrop of negative publicity in international publications, giving Sri Lanka positive publicity is of paramount importance, especially when there are many positive stories.
The best and most cost effective approach to this is PR, given that we are working on a tight budget where funds are insufficient for global media campaigns.
As part of the international PR campaign the appointed agencies will provide crisis communication when required, international lobbying, and hosting prestige events in Sri Lanka, international press conferences, FAM tours for tour operators and travel agents and Road Shows in key cities in addition to the traditional daily PR activities.
With the appointment of the PR companies, Sri Lanka Tourism hopes to invite close to 250 renowned journalists working for prominent print and electronic media.
Within the last four months, Sri Lanka Tourism also saw nearly 300 tour operators and travel agents from key markets conducting workshops and their annual conventions in Sri Lanka.
