Vibrant Colombo

Vibrant Colombo
Colombo the capital of Sri Lanka will be a place for one to discover modern Sri Lanka; it is a multifaceted and interesting place to be. The colonial past is still visible from the many old buildings such as the Old Parliament, GOH hotel building, city clock tower, The Galle face hotel and many buildings in the Fort area.

The Colombo fort which was built initially by the Portuguese is no longer visible in its original form unlike the fortress in Galle. The Fort area today consists of the central bus station, the Manning Market which is the centre point for commodity trading, the Twin Towers, the Central Bank & the Colombo Harbour.

Colombo is now growing and developing at an alarming rate. There a construction cranes everywhere you look and new office buildings and apartments are shooting up to the sky. Restaurants of every type and style as well as a profusion of clubs, bars and lounges have sprung up to cater to the growing number of party goers in Sri Lanka.

Shopping can be hit and miss but its getting better and better with stylish malls like ODEL and specialist outlets such as Barefoot and Paradise Road leading the way.

With shopping, nightlife, casinos and restaurants, Colombo is redefining itself as a modern and vibrant city, a destination in itself for any visitor to Sri Lanka.
